In 2007 a photo album was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
Some of the photo's depicted german soldiers visiting the so-called Solahuette near Auschwitz were they worked.
The album belonged to Karl Höcker.
My fascination for these pictures fed my desire to come to know more about who Karl Höcker was.
After travelling to Poland in 2008 to visit the Solahütte which still exists and which is now a place of recreation
I finally went on to visit Lübbecke, the german town were Höcker had lived and worked most of his life.
